“30 years already! Since its creation, the Bering company has written its history through both Expertise and Quality.
It was on boats that we were born, in 1951, under the name PLASTEX, a brand of protective clothing for two-wheelers, one of whose subsidiaries was dedicated to equipping long-haul sailors. A profession that exposes men to the rigours of a life on board, swept by trying conditions, involving a choice of protective equipment that does not let you down.
In 1991, inspired by the famous eponymous strait and its extreme conditions, the name BERING was adopted to fulfil the brand's mission of providing protection to motorcyclists. Combining quality requirements and a constant quest for innovation, the brand quickly met with success to become an iconic brand, a leaders in protective gear.
BERING stands for 30 years of innovations and technologies designed to serve the purpose of protection.
Years of R&D and a mastery of technology have led BERING to become the first brand in the world to design the electronic road airbag and to develop a revolutionary concept of PROTECT FLEX protective shells.
As a reminder, since 2003, BERING has been the only French brand in the motorcycle world to hold the GORE-TEX licence for its clothing range.

Creating and developing protective equipment requires savoir-faire and in-depth technical knowledge. In addition to the imperative of protecting riders in the event of a fall, there are the essential rules of thermal barriers, waterproofing and, above all, comfort and use.

There are therefore many interactions between the possibilities offered by the product technique, the conditions of use and the level of safety. Our teams have full control over these parameters.

From the launch of the first KING SIZE range (cut adapted to generous body shapes and strong builds for men), to the development of products designed with contemporary CE-approved and PPE-certified materials, offering ease and a level of premium comfort has always been a priority for the brand.

Thus, we are proud to present our PORTLAND jacket with a new outer material and many components, made from recycled fibres.
This jacket is part of our ECO FRIENDLY range. It has neat stylistic lines, and is designed for comfort as well as meeting our safety requirements. This marks the beginning of a new story for BERING.

A high level of security requirements.

The protective equipment marketed by BERING is conceived, designed and developed in France (Europe). The offer is designed to meet the needs of a very large clientele of amateurs and professionals.

BERING equips GP and endurance motorcycle riders. The level of requirement requested and the rigour in the design of the equipment are identical regardless of the product on which our teams are working.

All equipment is EU certified.
We test our products in internal laboratories to ensure compliance with safety requirements and then once our products are finalised, we launch series of tests to be carried out by certified European laboratories.

European regulation EU2016/425 governs Personal Protective Equipment and in particular equipment for motorcyclists. All sports and practices that are extreme or may be subject to risk have their own PPE (skiing, cycling, firefighters, etc.). It indicates that all products claiming to offer protection must be effectively protective and therefore in compliance with requirements. This certification is obtained after validation through various tests (chemical, ergonomic, mechanical, etc.) carried out by an approved European control body.

To recognise a product that meets this requirement, you can find the following logo on our products.

There are 4 European standards that concern motorcycle equipment:

• • EN 13594 for gloves
• • EN 13634 for footwear
• • EN 1621 for protective gear

To sum up, we can say that EU-certified equipment has all the characteristics required to ensure user safety for riders of 2-wheel or 3-wheel motorised vehicles during use or in case of a fall.
